Macclesfield Outdoors recommends the Nice Nosh refreshment stall at the Trentabank Visitor's Centre, where a real taste of the Peak District is cooked freshly for your enjoyment. Nice Nosh is situated in a cosy corner at the rear of the Visitors Centre in the heart of Macclesfield forest, where there are tables and chairs to eat and drink in comfort. Nice Nosh is run by John Sellors, and everyone can enjoy a nice nosh because all tastes are catered for. Many vegetarian options are available (V) as well as hot and cold drinks, several supporting the Fair Trade logo. Packaging has been carefully chosen for its biodegradable nature, and when you have finished, recycling is taken care of, just pop it in the bins provided.

Savour the flavours in an outdoor environment where you can not only smell and taste but touch, feel and see the natural beauty, wild life and cultural heritage of the area. Opening times are weekends and bank holidays from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. Nice Nosh is usually closed the middle 2 weeks in November and middle 2 weeks in February.

Rest assured your purchase is directly supporting the Peak District rural economy. Most of the menu has the Peak District Cuisine mark, so you can be sure of the food origins. Peak District Cuisine is a project being led by the University of Derby College, Buxton. The project is about using local produce to create new, innovative or traditional menus.

Also, some items have been awarded the Peak District Environmental Quality Mark. This can only be achieved by businesses that actively support good environmental practices in the Peak District National Park. When you buy a product or service that has been awarded the Mark you can be confident that your purchase directly supports the high quality management of the special environment of the Peak District National Park.

Note also that John is a keen walker, with plenty of local knowledge about good walks in and around Macc Forest. He sells his own walking guides as well as his wonderful refreshments!
